Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge attended the UK’s Creative Industries Reception at the Royal Academy of Arts in London, following a day of supporting Zara Phillips during her equestrian competition during the 2012 Olympics.

Prince William’s wife dazzled onlookers Monday as she met Prime Minister David Cameron and dozens of British artists on the fringe of the London Olympics.

The 30-year-old duchess tied her long hair back and wore a dove gray dress by Serbian designer Roksanda Ilincic.

The day started off atGreenwich Park for Zara Phillips’ equestrian event at the Olympics, where Catherine caught some rays with Will (and Gucci sunglasses) in tow. And then it was on to the evening. While the boys hit up the men’s gymnastic finals, Kate changed into her evening wear to attend (stag) a non-Olympics related event in London. Part of the “GREAT” promotion of all things Great Britain, around 800 guests interested in working or promoting the United Kingdom were present.

How did the duchess do for evening? First of all, we’re totally crushing on her hair, which was pulled back in a rare updo. Fun fact: the last time the duchess wore her hair back, it was at an Olympics gala back in May.

The dress is a recycle one also. Kate first wore the lavender Roksanda Ilincic frock back on her 2011 royal tour. Unusually she wore her hair swept back in an elegant chignon showing off her new circle earrings with the meaning of Olympic ring.

A pair of grey suede LK Bennett pumps to match her dress and a sparkling clutch completed her look. The pumps are no doubt her favorite.

Fiery rings, representing both the Olympics and the Industrial Revolution, are lit and lifted during the Opening Ceremony.

The Opening Ceremony reflected the key themes and priorities of the London 2012 Games, based on sport, inspiration, youth and urban transformation. It was a Ceremony ’for everyone’ and celebrated contributions the UK has made to the world through innovation and revolution, as well as the creativity and exuberance of British people.

Kate looked the picture of summer perfect in a patterned white and beige Hobbs summer dress, low beige wedges and with her trademark blowdry.

Kate’s ‘Wessex’ dress cost £35 in the sale from High Street store Hobbs but is sold out.

Three survivors of the Colorado movie-theater massacre escaped with minor wounds, but were left with broken hearts because their heroic boyfriends died saving them.

In final acts of valor, Jon Blunk, Matt McQuinn and Alex Teves used their bodies to shield their girlfriends as accused madman James Holmes turned the Aurora cineplex into a shooting gallery.

Jon Blunk had served in the Navy and was planning to re-enlist. On Friday, the 26-year-old took his girlfriend, Jansen Young, to see the “Dark Knight” — when the assault began, Young says he saved her life. “Jon just took a bullet for me,” Young said in an interview on “Today”. “He knew and threw me on the ground, and was like, ‘We have to get down and stay down.’”

“I guess I didn’t really know he had passed, up until I started shaking him and saying, ‘Jon, Jon, we have to go… It’s time for us to get out of here,’ ” she told the Denver Post.

Equally heroic was the 24-year-old Teves, who hurled his girlfriend to the floor as bullets whizzed through the theater.

“He pushed her to the floor to save her and he ended up getting a bullet,” said his aunt, Barbara Slivinske, 57. “He was gonna hit the floor himself, but he never made it.“

Samantha Yowler had a similar story of horror and heroism about her boyfriend, Matt McQuinn, whose last living act was to shield her from death. Yowler, 26, survived with a gunshot wound to the knee and is in fair condition after undergoing surgery.

James Holmes, the Aurora, Colorado shooter who reportedly opened fire at a Batman movie premiere, was a medical student at the University of Colorado, pursuing a PhD in neuroscience, reports ABC News.

James Eagan Holmes came from a well-tended San Diego enclave of two-story homes with red-tiled roofs, where neighbors recall him as a clean-cut, studious young man of sparing words.

Why he would have pulled on a gas mask and shot dozens of people early Friday in a suburban Denver movie theater. So different from her usual condition.

Holmes was taken into custody shortly after the shooting, police said, adding he didn’t resist when he was arrested,” reports a local CBS news.

Police said he started his attack by tossing a gas canister into the theater, where he had bought a ticket for the midnight showing of “The Dark Night Rises,” the new Batman movie.

Holmes is not talking to police and has asked for a lawyer, according to a law enforcement official briefed on the investigation. The official spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the ongoing case. Police found jars of chemicals in Holmes’ booby-trapped apartment with wires nearby, the law enforcement official said.

On Friday morning, police escorted the suspect’s father from the family’s San Diego home. The mother stayed inside, receiving visitors who came to offer support.

San Diego police spokeswoman Lt. Andra Brown, spoke to reporters in the driveway of the Holmes’ home, on behalf of the family.

“As you can understand, the Holmes family is very upset about all of this,” she said. “It’s a tragic event and it’s taken everyone by surprise.”
