Soon-to-be single dad Tom Cruise was reunited with daughter Suri today, in his first visit with her since Katie Holmes filed for divorce against the “Top Gun” actor. This was Cruise’s first time to see Suri in the flesh since he and Holmes filed for divorce last month, though they Skyped. Tom flew straight to the Big Apple from the set of Oblivion in LA, which wrapped (that’s film speak for ‘stopped filming forever’) on Monday.
The actor, 50, arrived in New York City earlier today and was photographed carrying his daughter into a hotel. It is his first visit since he and Katie Holmes, 33, reached a divorce settlement on July 7. “It’s all part of the divorce settlement that Tom be allowed to video chat with Suri. Likewise, when Suri is with Tom, Katie can video chat with her,” a source said.
“Tom and Katie were advised that this could be a very useful tool to help Suri with the adjustment of her parents getting divorced. Tom and Suri have been video chatting and Tom just lights up when her face appears on the computer screen. “There are provisions and clauses about which parent Suri will spend Thanksgiving, Christmas and her birthdays with.
Holmes’ sneak divorce attack was weeks in the planning, in a classified-need-to-know operation worthy of a “Mission Impossible” script, according to published reports. She reportedly changed cell phones, hired new staff, covertly rented a high-security Chelsea apartment and executed her plans all while Cruise was in Iceland filming “Oblivion.”
Over 75% of the settlement documents deal with Suri and the custody agreement. In the photo, Tom cuddled his beloved 6-year-old, who held on tight to dad — and to her stuffed animal toy.
Also Tom will have no contact with Katie. Suri will be picked up and taken back with the help of intermediaries.
